Abstract. Developing adaptive approximation methods is one of the
natural applications of the hierarchical spline spaces. In particular,
the basis of Truncated Hierarchical B-splines (THB-splines), due to its
properties, allows to construct a simple method to obtain hierarchical
versions of Quasi-Interpolation (QI) operators based on tensor-product
meshes. In this seminar, first we will review the basics of the
construction of hierarchical QI operators; then we will apply this
framework to some QI operators and examine the numerical tests to
compare the hierarchical and tensor-product version of the same QI
operators.
